Due to several high-risk vulnerabilities, the Indian government has issued a high severity warning for users of Google Chrome, advising them to upgrade their browsers right away.

In order to stop arbitrary code execution via malicious web pages, CERT-In alerts users to high severity Google ChromeOS vulnerabilities and advises them to update to version 120.0.6099.315 in the LTS channel.

Multiple vulnerabilities in Google Chrome OS have prompted a high risk warning from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (Cert-In). The government research team has disclosed in a security note dated February 8, 2024, with the codename CIVN-2024-0031 that the vulnerabilities it has identified are high risk and could seriously harm users of Google Chrome OS versions older than 114.0.5735.350 (Platform Version: 15437.90.0) on the LTS channel.

Advisory Statement

According to the July 1 alert, there are several vulnerabilities in the ChromeOS LTS channel that might be used by an attacker to run rogue code on the system they are targeting. The affected Google ChromeOS LTS channel version is 120.0.6099.315 (Platform Version: 15662.112).

What Users should Do?

Users are encouraged by CERT-In to apply the relevant updates that Google has released. The business announced in a blog post that the majority of ChromeOS devices are receiving updates for the LTS-120 in the LTS (Long Term Support) channel, version 120.0.6099.315 (Platform Version: 15662.112). The update resolves the two problems: WebRTC heap buffer overflow and Media Session use after free.
